Hi,
I logged in a few times so far. After leafing a first post, I realized that Post New Topic is not on the first page anywhere. It seemed I coudl view anything, but not post something new. In fact, I'm not quite sure what I pressed to get me here... but I found a Post New Topic on this page. I clicked something to get to a new page... but don't know what. :-(
Also, I am uncleare as to whether I should pick some particular forum for my post? If so, how?
I'm glad you found your way into here to ask about posting. This is the perfect place for it.
The first step to creating a new discussion topic is selecting the proper area to start the discussion.
The discussions areas are fairly self-explanatory. Please double check that you are in the correct area.
If you do happen to post in the wrong area, feel free to notify a moderator.
If no one has responded to your post yet, you can delete the post and repost it in the correct area.
If your post has been responded to, you must contact a moderator to move the topic.
Assuming you are in the right area, you are ready to create the new topic.
To do this, you need to click on the button that reads ?New Topic?
If you are not logged in, you will be asked to log in.
If you are do not have permission to post in that area, an error message will be displayed stating such.
If you are logged in and have permission to post, you will be taken to the message editor.
Your topic must have a subject and must contain a message.
HTML code has been disabled within the forum
Please use either
BBCode or the buttons at the top of the editor to make text
bold,
italic,
underlined, or
strikethroughIt is also possible to create unordered lists (such as the list of tips below) and ordered lists.
Please read the
BBCode page to be sure you understand them all.
When you have completed your post, I recommend you select to preview your post.
Many times the formatting of your post will change when it is published.
From the preview screen, you can scroll down to continue editing your message.
When you are happy with how your message looks, clicking the submit button will allow others to read it.
You will initially be taken to a screen that asks if you want to be taken to your message or return to the forum
(the area you selected to post your topic?not the homepage of the discussion board)
If you do not select one, you will automatically be taken to your message.
Tips:
** Short paragraphs are much easier to read than big blocks of text
** If you are copying error messages or code into a message be
sure to use either the Code tags [ code] [ /code] or disable
smiiles--or both
** If you find a mistake in your post after you submit it, in the
upper right-hand corner of oyur post is a button labeled edit, which
will take you back to the message editor.
**All users are defaulted to receive email notification of replies to topics they have posted to.
You can change this setting in your profile and on each individual post (before you submit it)
Lastly, thank you very much for putting The FilePro Room on this forum. However, a small depricating suggestion, not only for this link but almost all other ousdie links as well. Rebuild the link to have the "new browser window" option. This way, people can go see whatever it is out there, but when they are done looking and close that window... they will be right back on the forum page that sent them there. You don't want to lose people just because they were curious. Keep all the traffic you can.
Great point! Done!
By the way?the ?R? in front of the filePro Chatroom, filePro Mailing List, and Mailing List Archive is to identify them as outside resources.
If you have any other resources you feel would be appropriate, please let us know.
