Huh Huh
I am trying to copy some files created on the SCO box, using Anzio emilator, to a XP Pro box to Excel.  What do I need on the SCO side to push the files to my XP box?  Thanks

i dont' recongize 3.1.4, so i can't guess what protocols you have - if you have any networking ones, then start with ftp, that'd be your easiest.  if not, then anzio supports x/y/zmodem, as well as kermit, in case you have or can get any of those for your old sco version.  failing that, i think in the past anzio has supplied free of charge a c program (in source format?) for simple file transfer that you can use as transfer "server".  your best bet would be to get help from anzio tech support on this, they're really top notch - try email to ras@anzio.com

SCO 3.2.42 doesn't support TCP/IP - it will have to be a serial (X/Y/ZModem type) transfer as Joe states.
If the backups are reliable - you could pull the Hard Drive and 'mount' it on a Linux PC and actually create a mapped drive (Samba Share) to copy the files also.
fPTech may also have an old version of fpTransfer that you could purchase to do the transfer as well. You'd need fpTransfer on both the Unix and the Windows PC (Transmit & receive).

oh yeah, and once, in a museum, i saw this thing i think they called a "floppy disk."
if you have the same on both, and the files fit, the sco box should have a utility to copy to a dos-formatted floppy called "doscp".

What do you think Joe? Zmodem and Hyper Terminal? Will that work without him having to purchase anything? (maybe a null modem cable / adapter from Radio Shack)

he never posted back what he has, but if he can get serial comms going and doesn't have networking (if it was 3.2.4, i think tcp/ip was available as an add-on at extra cost), then he is stuck at serial.  haven't looked at radio shack recently to see if they still carry null modems and the like.  would like to think they did.  assuming he can and can get serial comms to work, if he can't find a common protocol between x/y/z/kermit - there's probably a shareware version of uucp for windows somewhere as well.  i remember using mks toolkit's uucp way back when, though that wasn't free.  if it's straight text, he can probably 'cat' & capture somehow as well.  still a lot of options once know more about what he's got.

Smiley Thanks folks for your info.  I have client with an old SCO box, that in 2005, I reserected from the dead. And again about 2 weeks ago.

I have a XP box using Anzio for serial terminal emulator.  I have created a .CVS file using filePro's processes.  I need to get these file that I will be creating on the XP box for futher Ecell processing.

I have sense forgotten the process that I did 15 year ago to do this.  How do I set up the SCO system to export?  If the SCO system has modem protocal capabilities, I do not know.  I have called the guy that designed the system and he does not know.

If you have anymore questions, my email is support@upandrunningar.com.  I also use Yahoo messanger, sjpiv44@yahoo.com.

Again, Thanks for your help. Jack

If you don't have any file transfer capabilities on the SCO box, I wrote an article years ago for one of the first issues of the (now defunct) filePro Developer's Journal.  (Unfortunately, Laura's website is currently under renovation, and the download page isn't currently available.)

The basic idea was to use uuencode to create a text version of a compressed rz binary, and upload that with a simple "cat >rz.uu".  If that works, uudecode and uncompress the file, and you now have rz available to receive a full-blown transfer program, such as rzsz.
