I hope this will help someone else later on as I pulled my hair out for 3 weeks on this one. I have always used fp with SCO-UNIX and never had any problems with the keyboard and fp programming using the termcap set by fp etc.

Recently and about 8 years ago with RH and now with FEDORA5 for a client I was unable to get a good console terminal to do my programming in FP. The closest I was able to get was to use a vt102 terminal which gave me the best screen and most of the keyboard keys working ok but when programming I couldn't use the F keys as used in FP to work with i.e. delete a char, insert a char, insert a line, delete a line (F1-F4) etc. I asked everyone in the world to help me redefine the keyboard for the vt102 and worked on it quite a bit.

Yesterday a Tom Aldridge suggested that I use the gui Gnome interface and it worked although the KDE desktop loads at boot. I used "#switchdesk gnome" on the fly and got up a new console terminal and went to FP and it worked flawlessly including my F keys. I was familiar with the emulators using SCO-ANSI terminals, linux terminals, xterm terminals etc. but none worked on the console no matter what I did.

All is better now!
