Do you have questions you would like to see fP Technologies address during the conference?

If so, post them here and we'll do our best to fit them in!

I would like to see fp-tech have a session dedicated to what are the killer features that fp-tech needs for filePro 6.0.

I would like someone @ fp-tech go through all the stuff posted on howie's wishlist to come up with a base, give these as well as any other internal ideas in the hopper out as hand-outs before the session, have an open discussion at this session (ken and/or ron should attend to  comment on feasibility), and SOLICIT USER OPINION - this should be the basis of narrowing it down to 30 or so features that can be put to an on-line vote following the conference.

this will give you an idea of what people will be willing to open their wallets and pay for, build on, etc. and show them that fp-tech listens.  it will also give more of a a reason to go for some attendees as they will have opportunity to influence future direction of filePro.

Excellent point Joe!
Maybe circulate the 'wish list' via e-mail prior to the conference so that the Users have time to come up with their own 'hit list'. I know from past 'wish list' meetings - that this could easily become a week long adventure and discussion. Help utilize the time by circulating the list before the conference.

yikes--thats a tall order..but a great idea.

Honestly, I'm not sure there is enough time between now and November to compile a list. Heck, I'm wondering if I would even have time to go through Howie's list between now and Orlando Sad

Can we maybe work on a list here in the forum, then from that I can put a list together for us (fP Tech) to go through and discuss at the conference?

We've got a start of a list here
Can we build on that? Get some preliminary discussion going here to see which should get 'air time' at the conference?

i never understood the point of a list on this forum if the stated place for it was howie's list, and further never understood why a small subset of howie's list was transferred here.

there is certainly a feeling of resentment in the community that stuff put onto howie's list is just like a black hole and a waste of time.  i was suggesting you take the opportunity to reverse the sentiment.  if you completely ignore the list because no one @ fp-tech has kept up with it and its become dated and a monster, you're just confirming this sentiment.

My hopes were to have this be a discussion area for the wishlist. I was hoping it would be a way to expand on the wishlist maintained by Howie--if someone were to start a discussion here on an item, and (ideally) get input from fPTech on it, refine it some....and then submit it to the formal wishlist.
Copying the older items was to give everyone a list of things that had been submitted, and to open up discussion of those items.

Unfortunately, I don't have any quick and easy way to bring them over here--and I just can't get it done along with everything else Sad So...for now it sits as is Sad

Would it be possible for Howie to supply an Excel type spreadsheet of the wish list items currently in his system? Something that developers would be able to look at and possibly pick out the ones that are important to them?

you know....where were you last year when I asked him for a copy of the items and found myself sifting through all those records??

A spreadsheet would be much easier to view--let me see what I can do

keep in mind that because howie's list was never followed up on, there are some items on there that already made it into filepro in version 5.6.

originally, there was also a link to a paypal account that was linked to a swiss bank account that someone once traced to a P.O. Box in Verplank, NY, for anonymous donations linked to specific wishlist items....

Even if Howie supplies a CSV file that can be converted to an Excel spreadsheet.

Get Ken or Ron to remove the ones that are done, ask the forum and mail list members to rate each item of importance to them, do some statistical analysis on the results to see a general priority from the users and then get Ken and Ron to comment on the practicality of each one and discuss at a session at the conference.

I don't think that is time consuming at all in the 5 weeks until the conference and would be a great PR event for the product.

Ah Ha!

I have the current list here.
I spoke with Howie and he mentioned that if you leave your email address off the front page, and check the box to see all of your items, it will display everything on the list.

This is great!

So we can all look at the same data at the same time.

I imagine the first step would be to chop it down to a more manageable number of items--eliminate the ones with low weight and those that have already been implemented?

I have downloaded the list and created an Excel spreadsheet from the data.

It is currently un-sanitised.

It can be found at http://www.smiths-aerospace.com.au/FP-Whish-List.htm

I will start to sanitise it as I get time and annotate items already done etc.  If anyone else would like to send me similar details so we can concur we should have a very good list for Ken and Ron to further annotate their thoughts on complexity/do-ability, etc.

Hope this helps.

It appears that the actual descriptions of Items is abbreviated.

they are, but if you put in the email address of the person who entered the item, you can view the full record.
