There are many ways of doing this on Unix/Linux systems, but I am not aware of anyone doing this on Windows. (Though that doesn't mean it's not being done already.)
A quick Google on "windows console +smtp" (without quotes) brings up numerous Windows command-line utilities (ie: programs which could be accessed via filePro's SYSTEM command) to send e-mail.
Note: I have not used any of these, and I am not endorsing/recommending any particular program.Here is a freeware program called "bmail" --
